What is international adoption?

Adoption is a process of linking and establishing a parent-child relationship between an elder person and a younger one, who are not already bound by a parent child relationship. It terminates the relationship between adoptive child and any formal parents. This process in most accurately described as guardianship in Islamic terms. International adoption is a way and process of adopting a child from foreign countries instead of one’s own country through permanent legal means. This is also a way of building families. You bring a child from a foreign country to your home country to live with you permanently, and brought him/her up as you legal child. International adoption is a way of changing and transferring parent rights from birth parents to new adopting parents. The adopted child has all the rights and privileges of a birth child.

International adoption- laws and categories

Adoption is not that easy a process, and when talking about international adoption it has some complications and challenges. There are certain things that are needed to keep in view while adopting internationally. The laws of adoption vary from country to country. One has to observe the laws of his own country about adoption as well as the laws of foreign countries from where the child is to be adopted. All the countries have the requirements for adopting parents that they must fulfill certain requirements. There is a specific amount of income that the adopting parent should have. Age of the adopting parents is also concerned. The number of existing children also counts. Marital status and relationship is also another thing that is considered in the process of adopting a child. And if you are a single gender is also considered.

There are some countries that have more requirements than the usual ones. These requirements include weight, a specific period of residency in the selected country, your own property and residence and your religion and race.

There are also categories of adoption. These are ‘simple’ and ‘limited or conditional’ adoption. In simple adoption you just simply become parents of a foreign child and he or she becomes your legal child with all rights including inheritance rights. And in limited or conditional adoption all rights are not given to the parents and the adopted child as birth parents and their children usually have.

Organizations and agencies for international adoption

There are many organizations and agencies working in all over the world and helping the willing people adopt the kid of their choice. These organizations have lists of children from different countries and their information. These kids may be orphans, SOS house children, earthquake or flood affected children, children who lost their parents in natural or non-natural calamities such as wars, famine and floods. These organizations make the parents aware of the rules to adopt a child from a specific country. They have the pictures and profiles of the children available online to help the poor kids have nice parents. You can tell about the religion and race and other requirements to them and they will search for a child of your choice for you.

The cost of the international adoption depends on the way of adopting. If there are agencies and organizations involved then the cost is tend to be greater than the otherwise procedure would cost. The cost ranges from 7000 dollars to 30000 dollars.
